The Advanced Research and Invention Agency (ARIA) programme is split into multiple technical areas (TAs), each with its own distinct solicitation:
TA1: Scaffolding – (date passed)
This area focuses on developing an extendable, interoperable language and platform to maintain formal world models and specifications, as well as to check proof certificates.
TA2: Machine Learning
This area aims to leverage cutting-edge AI to assist domain experts in creating top-tier mathematical models of complex real-world dynamics and in training verifiable autonomous systems.
TA3: Applications
This area is dedicated to ensuring that autonomous AI systems have quantitative safety guarantees, which can unlock significant economic value when implemented in critical cyber-physical operating environments.
ARIA welcomes applications from various sectors of the R&D ecosystem, including academia and non-profits primarily based in the UK. They are also open to proposals from outside the UK if such applications are believed to enhance the programme’s overall impact.
