The Advanced Research and Invention Agency (ARIA) invites applications from the entire research and development ecosystem to explore innovative methods for programming plants that can enhance carbon dioxide removal, improve food security, and deliver essential medicines to communities in need. 

 Scope 

• Ideas that sit within the programmable plants opportunity space.  
• Both land plants and aquatic plants, including green algae. 
• Microorganisms that interact with plants, as long as they are used to modify some aspect of a plant’s form or function. 
• Concepts that have the potential to reshape the discussion around what is possible or valuable. 
• Proposals that encompass a wide range of research, from early-stage, curiosity-driven studies to pre-commercial science and technology.
