Status: Currently closed, but a new round is expected to open in May 2025.
The EMDG program provides financial assistance to Australian SMEs to reduce the cost of marketing and promoting their goods, services, intellectual property, and software in international markets. The program encourages businesses to explore export opportunities, develop long-term export strategies, and build a presence in global markets.
Fund Details
The EMDG program offers funding across three tiers:
- Tier 1: Up to $30,000 per year for eligible first-time exporters.
- Tier 2: Up to $50,000 per year for businesses developing export markets.
- Tier 3: Up to $80,000 per year for experienced exporters expanding their global reach.
Funding is provided on a reimbursement basis for up to 50% of eligible expenses incurred.
The program aims to:
- Assist businesses in promoting Australian-origin products internationally.
- Reduce financial risk in international marketing efforts.
- Foster sustainable export strategies and long-term success in global markets.
Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be an Australian entity with an active ABN.
- Have an annual turnover of less than $20 million.
- Operate as a business that markets goods, services, or IP of substantial Australian origin.
- Have demonstrated export readiness or intentions.
Additionally, the grant:
- Supports eligible activities such as advertising, trade shows, travel, and export training.
- Encourages businesses at different stages of export development (funding tiers).
- Requires milestone reporting for multiyear agreements.
