Businesses can apply for year-round funding to develop new commercial services utilising space assets such as satellite communications, earth observation, satellite navigation, and more.
The amount of funding varies depending on the project’s focus:
Feasibility Studies
Provides the preparatory framework to identify, analyse, and define new, potentially sustainable applications and services within the ESA Business Applications programme. These applications and services must meet the following criteria:
- They are driven by user or customer needs.
- They utilise one or more space assets in an integrated manner.
- The tenderer plans to pursue a demonstration project after successfully completing the feasibility study.
Demonstration Projects
Dedicated to the implementation of pre-operational demonstration services within the ESA Business Applications programme. These services must meet the following requirements:
- They are user-driven, including user involvement and contributions.
- They utilise one or more space assets in an integrated manner and have the potential to become sustainable after the project concludes.
Each demonstration project is expected to include a pilot activity, where the service or product is tested with the customer in a pre-operational environment.
